Installing & Docent Talk:
I can't explain how nice it was to show my work in my hometown. The last time I had an opening in Albuquerque was at the National Hispanic Cultural Center, but I couldn't make the trip so I missed it.
It was super awesome to see people from all different parts of my life together at this show. All of my high school art teachers showed up, which was the most touching. None of this would have been possible if it weren't for Ms. Eaves, Ms. Bromberg, and Ms. Gillett. They provided me with the creative space and the tools to become the woman I am today.
And it's not over! Next month I return to 516 ARTS for my papel picado workshop, The Cutting Edge, where I will teach students how to design their own pieces. After that I will sit with Elena Baca and curator Dr. Holly Barnet-Sanchez for the gallery talk. So exciting.
