My largest piece yet--2.5 x 3 ft. Too busy figuring out the final details, gotta finish this thing in the next four hours! Here are some pictures though:
This summer I became fascinated with Stevie Nicks. A friend had told me a super crazy story about an encounter a friend of his had with her, and I've been mildly obsessed with her ever since. It's not just the whole gypsy sorceress thing she's got going on. I love watching her performances where she just wailed and danced like she was possessed around the stage. She's wild and I'm dedicated several pieces to her--embroidery, mixed media, and papel picado.
Of all the images of her on the internet, my favorites are the ones where she's posing with this bird. I get what she's going for and it totally works, and it also looks a little ridiculous. And I particularly love how she wore baggy leg warmers over her pumps. Way rad.
This is only my second time embroidering anything, so I'm pretty happy about how it turned out. She's a little cross-eyed. Shut up.
